How Cool Does This Sound?!?!

Mind you, this is the orientation!

Packing list for Fall 2008 SNRE New Student Orientation:

FYI - Cell connections are practically non-existent.

The Bio Station is SANDY! When you return home, be sure to shake and air out everything before you wash it.

Suitcases are NOT recommended- you will be walking on a dirt road for a short distance to your room. Please bring ONE duffle bag, ONE sleeping bag with pillow, and ONE day pack (small bag for lunch, water, snacks, cameras, etc. for daily activities). This trip is “quasi-camping” – there are cabins to seek shelter from the elements, but they are rustic and have been around for several decades. They do have lights, but there is no carpeting or insulation in most cabins. Each cabin is equipped with two twin size beds. Restrooms and showers are communal, separate men’s and women’s, and you will have to walk a short distance to use them – flip flops and a small bag for your towel and toiletries are suggested.

Suggested items for packing:

  • Water bottle – SNRE is giving you a BPA-free CamelBak one on Tuesday morning
  • Light coat (windbreaker)
  • Cap/visor (something to block the sun)
  • Rain coat
  • Toiletries – soap, shampoo, etc.
  • Pajamas – remember, you will need to walk to the bathrooms
