"Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people."
--Eleanor Roosevelt
I like this quotation a great deal, but what do you think of it? She doesn't say "Great minds discuss only ideas." And ideas can be approached from many directions.
Is she on-target?

I've liked this comment too. I didn't know that it was Elanor Roosevelt, and the fact that I first saw it on a welcome mat being sold at a dollar store makes me wonder if it should really be attributed to her. True, she doesn't say only ideas, but when I talk about people (or gossip which is what I believe she is referring to) I feel that I am being small minded by doing that. When speaking of ideas, I feel that my brain power is being used for something much more valuable and rewarding.
